File Organisation

One task I set myself this week as well as the continuation of the asset list was organising the asset folder for our game to make it more effective and easier to understand. Beforehand there was only Pirate and Tribal sections - the problem with this was there were assets such as environment models (like trees) which aren’t clear set one or the other.

My way of sorting this was as such - the sections of the asset folder are now ‘-WIP’ just as a dump folder for people to work in, ‘Decals’, ‘Environment’ for anything unthemed, ‘Pirates’ for anything pirate themed and ‘Tribal’ for anything tribal themed. The main 3 asset folders also have subfolders to them to further organise things with ‘Pirate’ and ‘Tribal’ both having ‘Character’ and ‘Props’ folders and the ‘Environment’ folder being sorted into ‘Foliage’ and ‘Other’.

This Organisation should mean that there’s no more questioning where assets should go and it should also make things a lot easier for people working in unreal to find the assets they need.
