Rigging the Character

My task during the easter sprint is to get as much of the animation work done as possible so the first task i’ve been able to do has been getting the first character rigged. To do this it was a fairly simple process of exporting out the character that harrison modelled, bringing it into mixamo and then assigning where the chin, groyne, wrists, knees and elbows are - mixamo then automatically rigs the character the best it can and gives you a usable rig that you can export out to use.

The main issue I ran into during this process was that the character had been modelled in a way that needed a few edits. These included moving the arms up into a A-pose as they were originally very straight down which was causing stretching issues, editing the topology for the elbow as these weren’t positioned correctly for mixamo and then getting the hands facing forwards as after some tests this seemed to work best with mixamo.
